In this segment of the show we choose a Tarot Card for the week and we look for moments that relate to this card in our daily lives. For this episode we chose the Eight of Pentacles. The theme of this card is practice makes perfect.

In trade professions, there is generally the apprentice, the journeyman, and the master. The seven of pentacles as the apprentice, the person who is sort of doing the menial tasks to show their commitment and to help out the person who is training them. The nine, is the master, the person who has put in all the hours of practice and is reaping the reward. And in the middle is the Eight: the Journeyman.

This is the person who is doing the same thing over and over and over again to gain muscle memory and really get the hang of making the thing they are trying to make.

This card is about not rushing to get to the nine or the mastery, just committing to learning and practicing, and enjoying the process of being a beginner.

You can hear Erica’s and Maggie’s stories related to the Seven of Wands by listening to the episode.

Creating a Routine

There are many reasons to develop a ritual or routine for each day. It helps you remain grounded and connected to your witchcraft practice and spirituality. In addition, it helps you remind yourself of your goals and keep yourself directed toward them while reflecting on the past. A daily ritual also gives you the opportunity to destress and relax as you connect with your intuition.

For many people, mornings and/or evenings are the time available to fill with spiritual work. Generally, this is when there is time outside of work and other commitments, but it’s also very likely you already have some sort of routine you do when you wake up and before going to sleep. Brushing teeth, making or unmaking the bed, drinking water, etc.

How to Make Your Routine Successful

Witchcraft is mutable, it ebbs and flows with the seasons of your life. The energy that flows in and around you changes with the circumstances of your reality and can be directed to meet your desires.

As we’ve said before, Virgo is a mutable sign. So this organization and establishing routine you are doing during Virgo season comes with the knowledge that this structure is changeable. It’s not rigid or immovable, it adapts to what is best for you in your life.

Basically, when it feels good and it enhances your wellbeing, implement these routines and organizations. When it feels hard or out of alignment, be open to implementing something that works better.

Let go of the need to push and work in all areas of your life, all the time. Make space for fluidity in your craft and in your life. So long as you keep yourself aligned with the vision you hold for your life and make choices based on what best serves you, you will always be on the right path.

This post is brought to you by Marjoram

  • MEDICINAL - Coughs, sinusitis, marjoram keeps hormones in equilibrium, take half cup of decoction or half teaspoon powder with milk. Improves digestion. Scent stimulates salivary glands, oil stimulates peristaltic movement of intestines and encourages elimination. Helps maintain blood sugar.
Inhalation of marjoram essential oil has been shown to reduce blood pressure.
Marjoram is a great antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral agent.

  • MAGICAL - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Fire, Aries, Virgo; Cleansing, purification, and dispelling negativity; Place under pillow to bring revealing dreams. Place in the corners of the home for protection. Use in love spells or place in food to strengthen love. Carry for protection or place in money mixtures and sachets to draw wealth. Use an infusion in the bath for 7 days to aid in resolving sadness or grief.

Send us a voicemail

We play one listener voicemail on each episode of Talk Witchcraft, with a few exceptions. To send us a voicemail, record a voice memo on your phone and email it to welisten [at] talkwitchcraft [dot] com. Please keep in mind that we only choose voicemails that are two minutes in length or shorter (even if they’re great!).

What we’re looking for in a voicemail

  • Share from your personal experiences (especially experiences that we could never have) and use that to illuminate the zodiac season or theme in new ways.

  • Ask questions of Erica and Maggie, so we have an opportunity to respond meaningfully to your voicemail during the podcast.

  • Use one of these prompts: Is there something happening with you and your life that aligns with the current zodiac season or a Tarot card? How do your experiences show us something new about the magic, something that we haven’t talked about so far?

  • Send a voicemail even if you’re behind on the podcast. If your voicemail is about a previous episode, zodiac season, or tarot card; that doesn’t mean we won’t choose it!

Tips for recording a great voicemail

  • Make sure you’re somewhere quiet.

  • Plan what you’re going to say ahead of time, because two minutes goes quickly.

  • Opt for talking freely based on a bullet pointed list rather than reading word-for word from a script.

  • Let us know if you’d prefer to remain anonymous.

Wait, don’t go yet!
