To start off the show, we look at our Tarot Card for the week and we look for moments that relate to this card in our daily lives.

For this week, we chose the King of Wands. The theme of this card is a journey of friendship. The theme of this card is authority and leading by example. This King is a King of taking action.

If you look at the Rider-Waite version of this card, his Wand is actually resting a step down from where his throne is which indicates he can stand and be moving in a single swift motion. His throne appears temporary or easy to break apart and move should the King need to jump into action. There’s a sense of eagerness.

This King is a great leader who isn’t going to sit back and watch while other people do the work. He’s the kind of boss who will roll up his sleeves and do the work when he sees that help is needed.

You can hear Erica’s and Maggie’s stories that they relate to the Four of Cups by listening to the episode.

5 activities for Leo Season

1. Let yourself brag and show off your joys.

This is a time to celebrate life and enjoy everything life has to offer you. The more you see what is worthy of praise and celebration in your life, the more you will have to praise and celebrate. Allow this generous, fun, magnanimous energy in and take this opportunity to show off a little and even brag.

2. Find the fun in flirting and dating.

Whether you are single and ready to mingle or in a committed relationship, or somewhere in between, you are never too old to flirt. Take yourself out for a date with the intention of meeting someone new to flirt with or plan a special event with your significant other and rekindle the early stages of your relationship with a little flirting. Flirting doesn’t have to be romantic, so feel free to shower a friend with love as well if that’s more your speed.

3. Connect with your creative side.

Everyone is creative in one way or another but many people neglect this part of themselves. Whether you are an artist on the canvas, with a typewriter, in the kitchen, with craft supplies, using fabric, planning events, setting routines and schedules, designing graphics, creating spreadsheets, or any other creative outlet, it’s time to lean into that creativity. Whatever creativity means to you, get in touch with it and let go of some of the seriousness life often forces us to express.

4. Love yourself first and be proud of yourself.

In western culture, boasting and bragging is often looked down on, but who else is going to be proud of you if you aren’t. When you love yourself first, you have more love to go around so look after your own wellbeing by focusing about what is great about who you are. Be confident without arrogance, lead with the example of love and then pay it forward with a generous and giving heart.

5. Treat yourself to an indulgence.

Be like a kid in a candy shop and revel in the simple pleasures. Spoil yourself and those you love with treats, gifts and games. Be like the radiant sun, spreading joy and laughter wherever you go. You have a lot to offer the world and the world has a lot to offer you so indulge in the things you normally deny yourself and your loved ones.

Send us a voicemail

We play one listener voicemail on each episode of Talk Witchcraft, with a few exceptions. To send us a voicemail, record a voice memo on your phone and email it to welisten [at] talkwitchcraft [dot] com. Please keep in mind that we only choose voicemails that are two minutes in length or shorter (even if they’re great!).

What we’re looking for in a voicemail

  • Share from your personal experiences (especially experiences that we could never have) and use that to illuminate the zodiac season or theme in new ways.

  • Ask questions of Erica and Maggie, so we have an opportunity to respond meaningfully to your voicemail during the podcast.

  • Use one of these prompts: Is there something happening with you and your life that aligns with the current zodiac season or a Tarot card? How do your experiences show us something new about the magic, something that we haven’t talked about so far?

  • Send a voicemail even if you’re behind on the podcast. If your voicemail is about a previous episode, zodiac season, or tarot card; that doesn’t mean we won’t choose it!

Tips for recording a great voicemail

  • Make sure you’re somewhere quiet.

  • Plan what you’re going to say ahead of time, because two minutes goes quickly.

  • Opt for talking freely based on a bullet pointed list rather than reading word-for word from a script.

  • Let us know if you’d prefer to remain anonymous.
